My professional career has been a long and interesting one so far!
I started out as an assistant pro at a club in Devon, but realised after a short time that competing professionally was what I really wanted to do. With great support from my parents I embarked on playing on the European Satellite Tour, where after a few reasonably successful years I finally secured my full European Tour card in 1996. This was with the help of my brother Nigel carrying the bag at the Tour School!!
I had a great first season with 7 top tens but it took me until 2002 to win my first european tour title, The Great North Open at Slaley Hall. And it was a very emotional victory indeed coming only two weeks after my inspirational mum Pam told me to go out and win a tournament for her just a few days before she sadly passed away!!!
I followed that with a wire to wire victory in 2004 at the Diageo Championship at Gleneagles. Other pro victories include Peugeot/Oki tour event in Seville 2002 and back to back Mauritius Opens in 2004 and 2005.
I am still working hard for that third Tour victory. Let’s hope it is not too far away.
